The town of Dag is located in the river bend of the Danube, in the southeastern part of Komarom-Esztergom County in northern Hungary. The two nearest cities are Dorog (8 km) and Esztergom (17 km). Dag is nestled between a group of mountains, namely Mt. Gerecse and Mt. Pilis, at the foot of the so-called Gete group. Dag lies in a hilly area 160_200 meters above sea level at the eastern reaches of Mt. Gerecse in a basin surrounded by 3 hills. The entire area has a fertile soil.
Dag's landscape is dominated by prominent hills. West of town, near the church, lies Öreg-hegy (Old Hill; 220m). Lo-hegy (Horse Hill; 200m) lies east of town and extends in a north-south direction. Finally, northeast of the town is Karoly-hegy (Charles Hill; 243m) from where the ranges of Mt. Buda, Mt. Pilis, Mt. Börzsöny, Mt. Gerecse and Mt. Vertes can be viewed on a clear day. Naturally, Dag's layout is influenced by its topographical features; streets run along the edges of the hills, and the valley is open to the south.

Dag's hydrography is very simple to describe: a spring-fed brook originates in the center of town and its course follows a southerly direction, joining with the Uny Brook and finally the Danube River, southwest of Esztergom at the town of Tat.
The area's microclimate is fundamentally influenced by Mt. Gerecse. The yearly average of sunny hours amounts to the area’s characteristic 1950_2000. with a maximum of 296 hours in July, and a minimum of 39 hours in December. The yearly precipitation measures 551_600 milimeters (21˝_23˝ inches). The prevailing winds are out of the northwest.
Area forests populating to the regional group of the Pilis-Gerecse mountains, are characteristic of the region's mountainous growth. The area's native vegetation is partially still in existence. An especially beautiful sight is afforded by a fir forested hill (Lo-hegy) extending from a northeasterly direction deep into the village. The soil is characterized by marl and fertile loam (loess) deposited on a limestone base.
